We had a wonderful Christmas Eve! The kids had so much fun visiting family and, of course, opening presents! Megan opened a present that was a doll with a bathrobe that she can play with in the bathtub. Her response was adorable, “Oh goodness!”
Ethan ooooeed and ahhhhhed over every gift. When he opened a robot he said, “Oh thank you. I always wanted one of these!” It may sound silly that I consider this a milestone, but Megan told her first joke today.Brad and I were talking to the kids again this morning about the true reason we celebrate Christmas. Afterwards, Ethan says, “I love Jesus. He’s the best God in the whole world.”
Tonight we took the kids to Disney On Ice. We had such a great time! The theme was Celebrations and they included so many of the Disney characters. Megan was most excited to see the “doggy” better known as Pluto. Ethan loved the scene that included the Toy Story characters. Brad and I enjoyed watching the kids faces. Megan was so amazed at everything and clapped and cheered. Ethan was very happy to pick out his Micky Mouse flashlight toy at intermission. I won’t even say how much it cost.
Megan was just happy to munch on some popcorn. She wanted some of Ethan’s cotton candy so Brad gave her a piece. She looked at it very suscpicously, touched it to her toungue and then told me to eat it. Haha! I bought these tickets at a great price in July so I have been looking forward to taking the kids for a while. It’s so fun to be able to do something special and see how much fun we all have together!
So we had a busy weekend. We decorated the inside of the house, the outside of the house and moved furniture and re-organized half of the house! Yes, we like to do things the crazy way. Brad was in the middle of working in the yard to get ready to decorate, when I came out and told him I had a great idea. Surprisingly, he thought it was a great idea too so we spent the rest of the day rearranging the house. The kids now share a room and Brad and I have moved to Ethan’s old room. This leaves our old bedroom, the biggest room in the house, as the playroom/schoolroom. I am so excited!!! It is so great to have a room just for toys and school.
We weren’t sure how Ethan would feel about sharing a room with Megan but he loved the idea. We moved around pictures and decorations so that the room didn’t feel so girly. The paint is green so it works really well as a more neutral room. Brad and I placed bets about how long it would take the kids to fall asleep the first night. I said 30 minutes, he said 1 hour. Luckily for all of us, I won the bet. We did our normal bedtime routine and went downstairs to listen in on the monitor. At first, they giggled and laughed and talked for a while. After about 10 minutes, Ethan started getting frustrated and was telling Megan he was tired. Finally he said, “Good night Baby Megan. Do you know what Good Night means? It means GO TO SLEEP!!” It was so funny and Brad and I were laughing listening to them. Finally they quieted down and both slept great. Ever since that first night, they are quiet and go to sleep with no problem. Megan does wake Ethan up in the morning. But he usually woke up about 10 minutes after her anyway, so it’s not a problem. I wake up to hear her on the monitor, “Ehan? Ehan? You wake?”
Ethan’s track that he built before bedtime all by himself. I was pretty impressed!
